Challenge Brief
As Nigeria's data protection and digital economy regulatory landscape expands, with annual data protection audits, Compliance Audit Returns (CARs), and growing obligations under the GAID, the number of organizations NITDA must monitor is rising rapidly. Without a centralised, automated compliance tracking system, internal teams risk relying on spreadsheets, email trails, or siloed departmental records to monitor thousands of registered entities. This creates several risks: missed deadlines go undetected, non-compliant organizations are not flagged or escalated promptly, enforcement actions are delayed or inconsistent, and leadership lacks real-time visibility into agency-wide compliance performance. As NITDA position itself, per its own AI Transformation Roadmap, to become a smart, AI-enabled regulatory agency, closing this internal gap is foundational, the agency cannot credibly enforce digital compliance externally why still managing that enforcement manually internally.
Key Challenge Question
How might NITDA build an internal system that automatically tracks regulatory compliance status across all registered organizations, flags overdue or non-compliant entities, and streamlines enforcement actions, in real time and at scale?
Goals & Mission
To design and develop CORE, a centralised Compliance Oversight & Regulatory Enforcement platforms that automatically ingest registration and audit data, calculates compliance deadlines for each organizations, sends automated reminders and escalation alerts flags overdue or non-compliant entities for enforcement teams and provide NITDA leadership with a real-time dashboard of agency-wide compliance status, by sector region, and severity, enabling faster, evidence-based enforcement decisions.
